This was our initial 2023 meeting to begin to set up the new club staff and to also start mapping out the club’s direction for the remainder of the 2023-2024 season.
Attendance – 25 people (21 previous members and 4 new members)
Karen (Owner of Bru Daddys) introduced herself and briefly talked about who they are and what they offer.
Mark provided some history and contributions of the club prior to COVID and how we should consider moving forward. He also discussed open staff positions that need to be filled to complete the re-organization. Those who stepped up are as follows:
- Shawn McKenney – Vice President
- Missy Molnar – Treasurer
- Secretary – Open
Topics for further discussion Mark presented tonight include:
- Invasions to Wilkes Barre, Hershey and team support to the Reading Royals
- Possible Roundtrip to New England
- Local Charity Support
Guest Speaker #1 – Dennis Begley gave a brief history of his 20-year involvement with the Phantoms and his role in being a part of the PPL Center being built. He stated to us that he was pleased to see the club re-engage and will do anything he can to help us succeed!
Guest Speaker #2 – Captain Garrett Wilson. Garrett shared quite a bit of his hockey progression from his start at 5 years old until being named Captain of the team here in the Lehigh Valley. He was very personable and answered many questions asked of him. He mentioned that after the victory on Sunday, he had the entire team over to his place to celebrate.
Thanks to Karen, Scott, and the staff at Bru Daddys for their excellent service and quality of food with our 10% discount. They were as good as it gets…pleasant, personable, and got everything right.
There were several giveaways during the meeting and the first ten people/families received Logo Mini Coolers. We will continue this practice at the next meeting as well.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, November 16th at 6:00 pm. Members can arrive at 5:30 and be served. Note that the start time is to indicate when we fully assemble but the actual portion of the meeting will begin shortly afterward so that food can be served and digested…please bring your ideas and suggestions.
